Last week I had the pleasure of shooting with my wonderful friend Andy.

He is such a gorgeous man, inside and out. His inner beauty really shines outward and I hope that I captured it in its entirety.

We played with the light, using coloured gels for the background, with fantastic effects.

Here’s a few of the images from the shoot as it was hard to pick the best of the lot.

Last night, I had the pleasure of shooting with Ash.

For his first time in front of the camera, I think he did incredibly well. He fell into poses very easily and it was a pleasure taking photos of him. I look forward to future shoots with him

Today I got the opportunity to shoot with little Alex. He is SO incredibly adorable.

He’s the sort of child that you just want to take as million and one photos of coz he’s so cute!!

It was a great experience taking photos of him. It also showed me that I need to be a bit more relaxed with my lighting when it comes to shooting kids as they have a mind of their own, which is fine by me

Last night I had an opportunity to take photos of my friend Sharlin. She is so incredibly gorgeous, happy and full of life. She just lights up the room and it was a pleasure taking photos of her.

She did so well for her first time in front of the camera. We had a lot of laughs and got some incredible images.

Again, what you see is what was in camera, so the photoshop of these images is minimal

Over the long weekend, my close and dear friend Spyke came over and we had a play in my new studio space and experimented with the lights and different poses.

He is such an incredible model, always able to fall into the right pose so easily – I love working with him so much!! Can’t wait for the next time.

The most fun was trying to get all the images perfect in camera, so there was minimal photoshop done to all of these.

This is a the follow up shoot, from the pregnancy one that I did a few weeks ago, which you can have a look at here.

Shooting babies is interesting. As soon as this little guy had the camera pointed at him, he grizzled and complained , so I just took the images in short bursts, while mum cuddled him in between.

Both of these shoots were edited using the classic wedding action set.

I love my iPhone – everyone that knows me, knows that One of the best features of the iPhone is the vast amount apps that available for download.

As an avid photographer, I’m constantly on the look out for new ways to improve my photography, ways to carry as much information as possible in the smallest possible way!

I took a leap of faith, paid and downloaded an app called Light Studio. It’s created by a photographer called Teemu Kuusimurto. It’s great

Learn to photograph like a pro! Light Studios is a 3D modelling system for light with tutorials for classic compositions of light in portrait photography by professional photographer Teemu Kuusimurto.

Using 3D models it shows different lighting set ups that can be used in a studio environment. You can also spin the 3D model around on the screen to have a look at the way the light changes by moving the model.

The main emphasis in this app is lighting, which I personally think is a HUGE part of photography and what really makes the picture. Your photography will improve ten fold if you just take that little longer to get the light right in camera, not in photoshop. (Don’t get me wrong though – I still love photoshop too!)

Lighting patterns are all about light on the face. This means it doesn’t matter which lens you use or from which angle you take you photo. These patterns make you subjects face always look good as possible. That’s why you can use these lights with any photo, regardless you shoot it outside or in a studio, with your expensive middle format camera, SLR, point and shoot or iPhone. Learn to light like a pro!

I think for the small amount of money spent, this app is great. Its like having a handy reference in your pocket or to do a little study when you have some time on your hands!

I was looking through some of my old files and found a shoot that I had never edited as I thought that the images weren’t good enough. I went through it again and I found that there were some salvageable images there. These were edited with this technique here.  I think that the final product is not too bad at all
